Credit card debt fell 16% in Alabama in 2011

Credit card debt in Alabama fell almost 16 percent in 2011 from the previous year, according to Credit Karma’s U.S. Consumer Credit Score Climate Report

The average credit card debt in the state was $5,770 in 2011, down from $6.861 credit card debt in 2010.

According to the report, Alabama has the third lowest average credit card debt in the nation, trailing only Wisconsin ($5,062) and Mississippi ($5,276).

But Alabama’s average credit score of 637 ranks among the bottom five in the nation.
